It's very easy, as artists, to keep going from one thing to the next without stopping to look back. The idea behind the 3D Journey is for participants to get a sense of where they have come from as 3D artists, and to inspire people who are new to 3D. Everyone starts somewhere, even the artists you respect and admire!
Artworks are presented from old to new. Some artists have created combination images showing their progression over a number of images and a lot of time

"I think there does not appear to be too much in the way of growth between the intermediate and today's piece. This is for a couple of reasons, but besides school taking me away from doing more 3d art... I'd say it is because I have been working on details and refinement. I've been working on the refinement of characters such as looks and likenesses as well as expressions. If something isn't quite right I may retexture or paint something in or tweak that dial a bit."

"I had fun looking through my first few renders!

"I suddenly realised after I finished my recent piece that that was the sort of image I originally started doing 3D nearly six years ago to create. It's taken me a long time to get where I wanted to go!"
Thank you so much to all the artists who took part this time around, in all three articles!
