Bella Cullen by joannastar Bella Cullen by joannastar
Bella Cullen as a vampire, from Twilight. ♥

Although the timing of making this was partly inspired by seeing Breaking Dawn pt 1 recently, this is based on Bella from the novel. I'm not attempting to make a 3d Kristen Stewart. Also If you don't like Twilight, sparkles, vampires, etc etc, please keep it to yourself. I don't think that the Twilight series is omg the best literature ever but it did help me through a hard time in my life and I will always be fond of it. Also yay sparkles ^^

This is fantastic!

You should do the entire Cullen family, plus Jacob, and human Bella.

I admit I loathe Twilight for literature-related reasons, but I adore the render. I don't think it is a symptom of schizophrenia ;). An artist can breathe life into something ugly making it amazing and vice-versa. Achieving this skin must have been difficult. At first, I thought it was made by Mihrelle as she gives sparkling options, but then I read you modified Sarsa's. Definitely the outcome was worth doing it!

I thought twilight style vampires would be a good fit for Poser as sometimes skin can come out a little marble like without much effort! But I did put quite a bit of effort into getting it just so. I love playing with materials though. I forget what I actually did but I think I had a go on the skin in photoshop first to make it a little paler and more vampire-y. I love sarsa's textures! And I think it's fine to like the fan art, and hate the original work so you're good ;)

I don`t really like Bella as a character but i just have to say this is prettier than Kristen. Actually much more like i`d imagined her :)

The sparkly is a combination between an effect in poser designed to make sparkles where the light falls, and enhancing it in photoshop. I was going to try to go for something close to the film but it turns out, freeze framed, the sparkle in the film is disappointing.
Also, Kristen Stewart is a human, albeit a very pretty one, so I don't think she can compare to an actual vampire :giggle:

I'm not a Twilight fan but that doesn't matter. What matters is the art and the art is good. :)
I got forced into watching one of the movies and I was thinking their eyes were more orange than red but I think the red looks good and gives a nice contrast. Were the sparkles done in post-work or with shaders or a combination of both? You did a great job on them either way since it only shows where the light is hitting rather than the full skin. I like the depth of field effect on the background too which really brings the focus on the character. One thing, shouldn't the hair have a bit more of a highlight? I could be wrong, I just personally have shiny hair. :D

Thank you  the sparkles were a combo of a specular and turbulence node in poser to get the little lights then post work to make them glimmer. In twilight, vamps are only supposed to sparkle in direct sunlight. The red eyes is actually a plot point, "vegetarian' vamps have gold eyes from animal blood, but since bella has only just been sired her own blood makes her eyes red. I found the red eyes on some of the non veggie vamps a wee bit flat in the movie.
I struggled hard with the hair highlight and I guess it got a bit lost... I tried with shaders and it just looked greasy so I had to turn it down. I should have tried more in post, but I'm not that great with hair D: I might try to fix it though. :D

I'm working on a series of ultra realistic hair textures with advanced Poser shaders currently. Still trying to perfect the shaders but I'm getting close. That's the Reby Sky hair, isn't it? I could send you a dark brunette texture with shaders for it to try out. :) I probably have that hair... I'm addicted to hair models. I buy them like stereotypical women buy shoes!

Ooh really? Thank you! Yes, it is Reby Sky. The shader I used is more complex than it looks, in retrospect. I had to make it lighter for the actual render than I wanted because gamma correction was making it go weird when it was too dark; also Bella's hair is supposed to have red highlights in the sun, so eventually I plugged in a ginger texture to the specular highlight and added an anisotropic node to make a white highlight too. But when I turned that up too much it looked greasy so I turned it down and it got a bit lost. Also I had blinn but I turned that down too so it didn't go over the top like my blinn usually does :giggle: I'd love to see what you've been working on. I have an entire runtime devoted to hair and yet I always have to buy JUST ONE MORE D:

So brown hair with red highlights in the sun. Also needs to look good with GC. I can do that. Right now it's too cold in my work room but once I get the place warmed up I'll whip something up for you. :) I hope you use high render settings because the higher the settings, the better my hair materials look. I use a maximum of 0.60 for material shading in render settings. If I have time to spare, I knock it down to 0.10.

WHUUUUUUT? That was my reaction. It's so awesome. How'd you do it? No, don't tell me! Let's keep it secret, it, oh, how do you say it? It...keeps the mystery and magic to the picture. Kind of how like you don't want to know how a magician does his tricks. This is amazing, really.
